This role requires a License Manager who has experience license administrator include secure, central storage of license certificates and a clear definition of licensing standards.



  • Conduct and report software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, legal, compliance, warranty and maintenance.
  • Track details and ensure visibility of all licenses, end user license agreements, warranties, maintenance agreements and vendor contracts.
  • Establish and maintain / continuously improve robust SAM Processes, aligning with ITIL to meet the best needs of the business; ensuring ICON plc have legal compliance and optimal cost base; these should also include tracking the sign-in, sign-out or deployment of IT assets and software Licensing.


  • Responsible for the daily and long-term strategic management of the Software Asset Management (SAM) for IT; work closely with IT Strategy and Architecture teams.
  • Work with the IT departments across all of Infra and Ops, optimizing the SAM and license estate, ensuring compliance and cost optimization.
  • Document and maintain the optimal asset management life cycle


    • Ability to influence decisions and facilitate change management through collaboration and leadership. Must also be able to act as a liaison between business and technology groups, to ensure that business needs are met with appropriate licensing solutions.
    • Work closely with procurement and IT project teams to support in all licensing topics and ensure cost effective and compliant licensing.
    • Coordinate communications with internal and external teams.
    • Providing stakeholders with accurate reporting.


    Sounds good? What do you need?

    • 5+ years of Experience in a Software Asset Management.
    • Relevant certification. i.e. SAM, IAITAM, ITIL, ITAM, CSAM, ISO, CITAM, CHAMP, CAMP, II
    • Extensive dealings with business software suppliers and relevant experience in SAM Tool operation.
    • In depth knowledge of License models, finding the optimal licencing path and also SAM Tool operation.
    • A team player with the ability to communicate across departments
    • Strong IT process background related to large scale, global, multi-functional implementation of processes and supporting tools.
    • Ability to define problems, analyse relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Evaluate licensing options, named versus processor licensing, on premise versus cloud, owned versus SAAS, and provide recommendation.
    • Manage and evaluate all regulations and legislations for licensing activities and ensure appropriate implementation and prepare strategies for various internal groups.
    • Working closely with the various IT groups responsible for various IT Assets
    • Advise management of best practices to optimize existing assets while reducing risks
    • Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.
    • Very good organisational skills, logical and efficient thinking, and strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior executives, managers and subject matter experts.
    • Adept at using negotiation, facilitation and presentation techniques to build consensus, and skilled at communicating difficult and sensitive information tactfully.
    • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project and Visio.
    • Expert knowledge and experience of project management methodologies and tools, Lean, Agile and Waterfall.
    • A degree-level qualification in Information Systems, or Computer Engineering
